Girls Night Out
Well, R and I headed into Austin to the Lucky Lounge to hear WideAwake play. Hopefully the ringing in my ears will stop by morning. I can hope, right?
We had a blast. I am totally hoarse from screaming all the lyrics while they played. (They did play 2 new songs- I liked them- go figure.) We danced. We just had a really good time. (I'm not entirely sure, but I think we got hit on... by a chick... let's just add that to my "first" list and move on, ok?)
I got the guys to sign a t-shirt for a new fan (it'll be in the mail tomorrow- if I'm awake, that is.) And, for some reason, Scott (the lead singer) signed my hand. I suppose the teenage girl in me is supposed to vow to never wash my hand or something, right? Yeah... we'll see how that works...
R made a good point this evening. Scott (and Eddie and Nate) write deep lyrics- lyrics that many people in the crowd wouldn't really get. A lot of times, the words go right over their heads. "It's got a good beat and you can dance to it" is enough for them. But, if you take the time to listen, really listen to the lyrics, you find amazing writing, a lot of it focusing on what it means to "walk the walk" in the real world.
I'll just leave you with this. It's not the deepest of their lyrics... but... it just struck a chord with me tonight...

If love is a drug, I'm quite sure we're all addicts
'Cause we can't last long without some
Love is like a kiss- if you give it you will have it
This is why two are better than one.
