Why in the world would someone feel the need to do this?

Yeah, that's Santa. Blindfolded and strung up in a tree by a noose. In a guy's front yard, for all the little kiddies to see. Neighbors contacted the police, but they can't do anything about it.

What does this fine, upstanding, level-headed gentleman have to say?

Stroia would not talk with reporters, but did say by telephone that it's his right to display the Santa whether neighbors like it or not.

He's right. It is his right. It's not a terribly sane thing to do, but it is his right to torment the neighbor kids.
