Just Some Observations
After yesterday's elections, I don't have much to say. A bit, but not much.
(update 8:20am) OK... so after reading a little more, I have a couple more observations:
eh... I'm one of the happy people... I'll get over it. IF, and that's a big if, the GOP actually got the message, then '08 might be very, very interesting.
update #2: Who really cares what the world thinks? They want our money, they want our influence, but they don't want our politics and policies. You can't have it both ways, people.
- Did anyone realize that Teddy was actually up for re-election? Did anyone bother to run against him?
- With the stock market climbing quite like an Atlas rocket and unemployment close to doing impersonating a Los Angeles class submarine, how can anyone say the economy is going in the wrong direction?
- I guess the people who voted "D" because of corruption just woke up from a 50 year-nap or something if they think the GOP has all of the corrupt goons.
- People are sheep.
- I want this t-shirt. (h/t to Annika)
(update 8:20am) OK... so after reading a little more, I have a couple more observations:
- Austinites have never met a tax increase they didn't like. (Woohoo! I don't live there!)
- ew... just... ew...
- Yeah, the conservatives sent a message to the GOP. They claim to have gotten the message. Unfortunately, the damage that was done (in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, for instance) may not be so easy to repair.
- This might not be as bad as people think. True, if certain Dems have their way, there will be hearings, etc. But, this also means that the GOP that are left in DC will have to think twice before voting for questionable legislation (read "non-punitive immigration reform").
- Is there any chance that W will actually pull out the Veto Pen of Doomâ„¢?
- At least there won't be any political ads for a year or so... right?
