A Few Election Links
So... I'm putting together a few links for any of you undecideds who might still be lurking out there. Just some food for thought to get you thinking. I'll try to keep it up at the top for as long as possible. I'll put new posts below this one.
- How does Barack Obama's policies and campaign behavior stand up when viewed against the Bill of Rights? (I guess that post was done before news broke that Obama's campaign threw 3 newspapers off the plane... three newspapers that just happened to have endorsed McCain.)
- Senator Obama may not be quite as willing to cross the aisle as he claims.
- Although he does promise to have Republicans in his cabinet (paging General Powell, Chuck Hagel, and Peggy Noonan... )
- Here's a wrap-up of the tape that the LATimes won't release.
- A supposed Obama campaign worker wants to come clean. It probably is true... seriously, it doesn't surprise anyone, does it?
- Hillbuzz also points out the mind games Axelrod will use over the next few days to make us think it's hopeless.
- I wonder if a McCain administration will encourage or tank an investigation into the campaign financing
violationsirregularities in the Obama campaign. You know... McCain/ Feingold and all that... - A good post about the choice in this election.
- Jules Crittenden has endorsed Obama... for all the right reasons.
- Mona Charen's 10 reasons to vote for McCain/Palin.
- John Hawkins gives us 30 more.
- Here is a good
videotrailer of a video series on the Christian case against ObamaHere is part 1, part 2, and part 3 of the series. The same person also has the Jewish case against Obama. - CBS does the math on Obama's campaign promises... and it doesn't add up.
- Obama owes a lot of people a lot of favors.
- Ohio's Sec of State, ACORN-associated Jennifer Brunner, has been trading notes with Murtha.
- The Times (of London) didn't like the Obamamercial.
Going Negative
That's probably not the best way to describe the latest tv ad from Rick Noriega. If you look at his youtube channel, he's been pretty negative from the beginning. ( A quick look at Senator Cornyn's youtube channel shows a mostly positive campaign.)
I get it. You're not going to win an election unless you cast your opponent in a negative light. But you also need to show how your plans are better than your opponents. Noriega hasn't done that.
And just to be clear... I agree with John Cornyn for the most part on the economy... if the media hadn't started doing the "we're all gonna die!!!" mantra, then a much smaller part of our economy would have been impacted. Then again, if the government hadn't demanded that people who could afford it got mortgages, we wouldn't be in this mess, either.

Who Cares What They Think?
A bunch of Hollywood celebrities decided to tell everyone their opinion on voting.
Yeah, well... here's what some non-Hollywood types thought about it.
Nah... there's no sarcasm there, is there?

Election Hijinks Hit Sheehan
Cindy Sheehan is running against Nancy Pelosi for her House seat. Last night, her campaign HQ was attacked. I am not a fan of either one of them, but I hate this kind of sophomoric behavior.
Cindy seems to think Pelosi's campaign had something to do with it. With some of the things Sheehan's pulled over the years, how can she expect anything less from a fellow Democrat?

Socialism In Practical Terms
If Obama isn't preaching a socialist agenda, then why does what this moron Obamabot says sound a lot like socialism at its core?
She's got that whole welfare state thing worked out, doesn't she?

A Message From Fred!
Where was this Fred! during the primaries???? He, of course, gets it and explains it in plain language that any undecided voter can understand.

Maybe There's Hope...
... and I don't mean Hopey-Changy hope.
I've been quite annoyed with stupid voters lately. And I can't help but worry that the next generation of voters won't be much better. I mean, my kids know more about the issues than many adults, but they live with me and can't get away from it. Their friends are a little better educated than most, but... oh, yeah... some of them are in my classes at the co-op and the rest have politically informed parents. The rest of the next generation? Well... stupid voters have kids, too, right?
Then, I saw this post at Ace's. In the first video, we have a bunch of 6th and 7th graders singing about the political parties. Some of the kids had an interview on CNN in the second clip. In that second clip, I saw kids who knew at least a little about some of the issues. Granted, their knowledge is limited and most were Obama fans, but they engaged brain cells for a moment.
And then you have Willie... like Ace said, poor Willie may have had his private info scoured like Joe the Plumber already.
I'm not ready to relax. I still hate how stupid the electorate has become, but I do think some of the kids are alright.

Not For The Easily Offended
Democrats in Minnesota are offended... offended, I tell you... about this mailer.
First of all, I'm not offended by the mailer as it is seen in the pictures. Franken offends me on a regular basis, but this mailer? Not so much.
It gets interesting, though. According to this comment on this blog, the photos in and of themselves are misleading.
I'm still not offended by it. And they say conservatives are easily offended... whatever...

If you look at the pictures they are folding the mailer to make it look like the pictures of the children are directly across from the text. The phrase "then talks about rape with a little girl on the opposite page you can guess my utter disgust" is completely misleading. The images of the children are on one side of the mailer and the VERY TRUE text is on the back of the mailer. What part of this mailer is incorrect or misleading? Nothing.hmm... if you look at the photos, you can tell they're holding two mailers together to pair up the same color pages. Sneaky, Al... very sneaky...
I'm still not offended by it. And they say conservatives are easily offended... whatever...
Movin' On Up
So... all of you folks who are at least my age (not quite 40)... remember The Jeffersons? Remember Sanford and Son? If so, you'll know that Weezie and 'Lizabeth are two important names, right? The wives.
Barack Obama remembers one of those names. As usual, off-script, he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Why is this even mentionable? For one, this is a pop culture reference that he should know. Second, if it was a Republican who botched it, the MSM would have it on the air 24/7. Third, as mentioned in the comments at the link, Weezie and her hubby finally got a piece of the pie after years of hard work. Come to think of it, 'Lizabeth's hubby was a self-made man, as well. Finally, when we're looking at who we want as President, don't we want someone who can think on his feet and improvise when necessary? Obama is lost without a teleprompter.
Barack Obama remembers one of those names. As usual, off-script, he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Barack Obama, in Raleigh, N.C., was doing a riff attacking John McCain for supporting the idea of putting some mandatory retirement money into the stock market.
"If Senator McCain is elected, we'll have another president who wants to privatize part of your Social Security. Could you imagine if you had your Social Security invested in the stock market these last two weeks, these last two months? You wouldn't need Social Security. You'd be having a -- like, what was it, Sanford and Son. `I'm coming Weezie!"

Like I Was Saying...
Last week, I ranted about stupid voters. John Stossel proved my point.
I mourn what our nation has become.
I mourn what our nation has become.
Just To Be Sure
Our future alien Overlord wants us to know exactly what we'll get with an Obama presidency... just in case we didn't know already.
Thanks, Remulak.

Zo gives one last pitch before election day rolls around.
The Infomercial
If you have the intestinal fortitude to watch tonight's Obamamercial, here are some of the things you won't see. GP did a great job on that post... it's so true.
No, I'm not going to watch it. I'm nauseous the way it is when it comes to The One.
No, I'm not going to watch it. I'm nauseous the way it is when it comes to The One.
The Silver Lining
Yeah, the election is next week. If you are eligible to vote, go do it. If you live in a battleground area, help out. You know the drill, right?
Take a look at this (h't here):
As I watch the polls get closer and closer, and can't help but think that, at the end of the day, pollsters want to be right. They have to back away from how they want the polls to look and show what the polls really say. Maybe I'm just a little too optimistic, or maybe I have a little too much faith in the American public, but I really don't think the presidential election is lost (unless you're very conservative and aren't willing to budge on the lesser of two evils). Between weighted polls, people who are not quite honest with pollsters for one reason or another, and the Bradley Effect, this may be a more interesting election than we've been lead to believe.
Now that you've lost your appetite with that photoshop, here's some sunnier news:

Now that you've lost your appetite with that photoshop, here's some sunnier news:
- Rep. Michael McCaul is still up in the polls, but he can still use some support. His opponent was recently added to the DCCC's Red to Blue program.
- One district north, Rep. John Carter will have no problem keeping his seat in the House.
- Senator Cornyn has taken a substantial lead in the polls, but he's not relaxing. He's focusing on fiscal policy this week- check out some videos and information here. (If you're looking for a little humor today, check out the latest youtube ad from Senator Cornyn's opponent. As usual, he gets it all wrong. Senator Cornyn has never been involved with Abramoff, but I'm sure that tying a Republican to Abramoff tested well with the focus groups, so... )
- Michael Williams is driving (literally) to the finish line in his bid to keep his position with the Texas Railroad Commission. Chairman Williams is driving across Texas in a propane-powered bus, campaigning not only for himself, but also for GOP candidates around the state. His opponent(s)? Haven't really heard from them lately. (
One - David Floyd (L)- doesn't even have a web page.Mr. Floyd was kind enough to point us to his web site in the comments. I have no idea why it didn't come up in a search yesterday. Sorry about that!)
That About Sums It Up
I've been accused of being racist before for nothing more than the color of my skin. Now, I guess I'm a racist because I understand that words mean things and who you associate with shapes who you become. And I guess I'm not alone.
So... you're a racist if you judge a man on the content of his character instead of the color of his skin. Got it.

Wednesday's Hero
Wednesday Hero was started to put a spotlight on the men and women of the United States military and the bravery their show day in and day out. But on a few occasions a service members of an allied nation has been profiled. Such is the case this week.
Despite being shot twice during an ambush in Afghanistan, an SAS (Special Air Service) soldier from Australia lashed himself to the front of his patrol vehicle so he wouldn't be left behind if he passed out from loss of blood and kept on fighting.
The Digger is expected to be recommended for a high level bravery award.
Suffering from serious upper body wounds, the soldier struggled on to the front of his SAS long range patrol vehicle (LRPV) and, under heavy fire, used a rope to attach himself firmly between the vehicle's bull bar and radiator.
Once he was secured, and there was no chance that he would fall off if he fainted, he picked up his rifle and resumed firing at the enemy during a two-hour fighting withdrawal.
SAS troops and their special forces comrades from the Commando Regiment are well aware of the slow and painful death that awaits them if they are captured by the Taliban.
The Digger, who cannot be identified, faded in and out of consciousness, emptying several magazines as volleys of enemy rounds and rocket propelled grenades, rained down around him.
He was finally evacuated from the battle field at high speed still lashed to the front of the LRPV.
A source told The Courier-Mail the Digger was now "up and about" and would recover fully from his serious gunshot wounds. His heroic deeds will be recognised when he is recommended for a high level bravery award.
Several others engaged in the do-or-die battle on September 2 are also in line for top honours.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

Do You Really Want To Go There?
The Obama has a problem. Uncle Joe opened his mouth again...
Yippee-ki-yay...
This is one comparison John McCain won’t mind. There's only one thing to say to that...
As Biden tried to tie McCain to President Bush this morning, he slipped and referred the Republican nominee as “John McLane." He immediately recognized the mistake, and tried to roll with it.
Yippee-ki-yay...
Grab the Parkas
I hope everyone in Boston has the winter gear out of storage. Why? Gore's in town. Needless to say, it's time for a cold front to blow in.
But never fear. The folks at Harvard had the situation well in hand. They sent out an e-mail, reminding students to dress warm and letting them know that hot cider and soup would be served.
You'd think that Gore would figure it out after a while. Oh, well... it's still funny each and every time it happens.

Let's Look At The Polls
Here is a little polling goodness to brighten your day.
• Senator Cornyn is up by 15 points in the latest Rasmussen poll. I guess whatever help the DNCC has brought into Texas for Noriega isn’t helping.
• John Murtha is down by 13. I guess calling your constituents “racist” isn’t the way to get votes.
• Gallop has the presidential race within 4 points among likely voters, within 2 points among likelies in battleground states. The TIPP poll has them within 1 point… well within the margin of error of the Bradley effect. (Ace had this all in one post.)
There you go. It's not much, but it's a tad more cheery than all the doom and gloom polls you might be hearing on the news.

Stupid Voters
Tuesday at the homeschool co-op, all of my classes (Texas History, US History, and World History) were subjected to a rant. I am compelled to repeat an abbreviated version for your reading pleasure in light of an audio clip I will put at the end.
So... the boys and I were listening to a local talk radio show on the way to co-op, and there were three callers to the show that discussed the upcoming election. One was pro-McCain, one was pro-Obama, and the other made me blow a gasket. He didn't know who was voting for yet.
Excuse me? With all of the information out there, how can a person NOT know who he is voting for two weeks before the election? How does that happen? It happens when voters don't bother to educate themselves, and instead they use their emotions. To paraphrase a woman Frank Luntz interviewed after the last debate, she decided to vote for the candidate who "moved her."
Other uneducated voters choose a candidate based on who promises them the most goodies. In either case, there is little or no thought about the issues, just the emotions evoked.
It's not that difficult to educate yourself on the candidates. Once you've actually taken the time to think through your belief and values systems (you'd be surprised how many people have never bothered with that little task), it's pretty easy to check out the candidates' websites and read over their issue statements. Whichever candidate is closer to your view on the issues is the one you vote for. You look at it logically, and everything magically falls into place.
But, no.... Americans, in general, are far too selfish to take an hour or so out of their lives to educate themselves on the issues. Then again, Americans, in general, choose a candidate based on warm fuzzies or how well their pockets are lined... that's pretty selfish right there.
When the media reports on high turnouts for elections in other countries, American whine about the lack of turnout in our elections. Sorry, but if voters aren't going to take the time to educate themselves, I don't want them to vote. Voting isn't a right- it's a responsibility.
Here is a stunning example of some voters not taking their responsibility seriously.
If you're going to vote, stupid, just stay home. Please.

Back In Business
The Yellow Big Box Electronics store left me a message. Evidently, they could not fix my laptop. Well, they could, but it would be cheaper to just hand me a new one. I am currently posting from my brand new, shiny Toshiba something-or-other laptop.
Now, as soon as I figure out how to get all of my goodies from the old laptop's hard drive to the new laptop's innards, I'll be ready to rock.
So... for this Sunday, let's go back to when I used to celebrate Blog Sunday... go do something non-computer related. C-ya when I get my bookmarks loaded!

They Keep Threatening It, So Why Don't They Do It?
Well, liberals haven't made the "if a Republican wins, I'm moving" threat as much this election- I guess they're that sure Obama will win. Just in case he isn't quite as victorious as they think he will be Nov. 4th, Canada is ready and waiting. (h't to the Median Sib)

Voter Fraud And All That Fun Stuff
Sorry about the lack of posting... laptop is still in the shop...
No, I didn't watch the debate last night. If I hadn't had a migraine to begin with, I sure would have after listening to the Obamessiah. Here's a handy dandy debate cheat sheet, and here's Gateway Pundit's take on it. Supposedly, if you actually paid attention, McCain won. But somehow a lot of people thought Obama won. I give up trying to figure out voters. They're morons. That's all there is to it.
Here's the latest on all the fraud.

Here's the latest on all the fraud.
- In Ohio, the Attorney General is sitting on 200,000 questionable registrations, wanting them to go through unchallenged. (For those of you playing at home, W won in '04 by 118,000 votes... do the math...)
- Here's a link to a post which discusses the 6th Circus Court of Appeals decision again AG Jennifer Brunner's recent antics.
- Also in Ohio, we have the clown car of homes... at least 12 fine, upstanding, patriotic activists registered to vote and used that address... even though none of them actually even live in the state.
- Here's a state-by-state rundown of the voter fraud we know about so far.
- Senator Cornyn wants a nation-wide investigation. Makes sense to me.
- As if voter fraud isn't enough... can we chalk up some credit card fraud to the Obama campaign as well? Oh, I'm sure it was just a clerical error or something...
- And one more little fraud-ish tidbit. I don't know if anyone really cares if Obama actually wrote his book or not... but it would be interesting if it really was Ayers who wrote it, no?
- OK, this one isn't fraud, but... looks like Michelle My Belle opened her mouth again. The Obama campaign says it's a lie, but... API says it will release the tapes. Pass the popcorn.

Wednesday's Hero
25 years old from Mount Airy, North Carolina
391st Engineer Battalion, Army Reserve
March 12, 2006
Misty Hiett, the widow of Sgt. Anton Hiett, said in an interview that he, Sgt. Hiett, asked to transfer to the 391st Engineering Battalion when it looked like his reserve unit would not be deployed.
Sgt. Hiett was a truck driver who joined the military right out of high school because he "wanted to go help out" during the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. After his transfer to the 391st, he was deployed to Afghanistan on April 22, 2005.
On March 12, 2006, Sgt. Hiett, and three fellow soldiers from the 391st, Staff Sgt. Joe Ray; Spc. Joshua Hill and Sgt. Kevin Akins, were killed when an IED detonated near their Humvee during combat operations west of Asadabad, Afghanistan. He left behind his wife and their then 2(now 4)-year-old daughter Kyra.

CNN Is In Trouble
CNN is actually reporting on ACORN. What are they thinking?
It's a good report, actually.
Check out Wiki's ACORN page. Scroll down to the"under investigation" section... and who they endorsed for President.

Why Ayers Matters
Senator Obama has stated repeatedly that he was 8 years old when William Ayers headed the Weather Underground, and that he presumed when they worked together at the Annenberg Challenge that Ayers was "rehabilitated." Whatever...
Here are some links that talk about what a nice guy Ayers was... and still is...

- a video of Ayers talking about his IED making days.
- According to this woman, Ayers was more than just a terrorist.
- Rehabilitated, eh?
- As a commenter to this post points out, "Old Japanese proverb: When you don't know a man's character, look at his friends."
- Jim has another good post, connecting the dots.
- Here's John Gibson's video take on why associations matter.

That's Mature
Senator Cornyn has released some new ads this week. Here is the first:
Here is the second one:
Rick Noriega was quick to chop up the ads and make their own response:
Can the Noriega campaign not come up with something on their own? They have to hack up someone else's work and put it up as a "response"? Noriega has no new ideas to add to the discussion (just tired old Democrat talking points), so they have to mock the opposition. I see how it works.
I guess if anyone on Noriega's campaign had an original thought, they wouldn't be working for a candidate with no original ideas, would they?

Soldiers Angels Charity
If you have a moment, please click here, and then scroll down and vote for Soldiers Angels. Squidoo is giving $80,000 away is asking for votes to determine how the money is divided among a list of charities.
Come on... you have 30 seconds, right? It's a good cause.
For each vote, we'll give that organization $2.
It's that easy.
We'll do it until October 15th, or 40,000 votes (which is $80,000). Whichever happens first.
Any vote after the 40thousandth, or after October 15th, won't count toward the $80,000 giveaway. But hey, the popularity contest can continue.
If we get fewer than 40,000 votes (which would be silly... it's free money for great causes) we'll roll the remainder into the Squidoo Charity Fund for the next payout.
